I did not play the game at one time (in zero), but it was always interesting what kind of beast is this. Relatively recently decided to go through and make a video. The genre declared by the developers, the game with my beloved series Re is related to the game, but as it turned out the game is unique and one genre here cannot be described here.
Good day, dear spectators … As I thought, I outplayed all the main titles of Drimkast, but this is far from the case. And today I will talk about the game that passed me by. Then, in childhood, not the last argument when choosing a disk was the presence of a Russian language and despite the wretched pirate translations, they still gave an idea of games (yes sometimes distorting the narrative beyond recognition) but at that time the complete absence of the Russian text, it was much worse than a pirate dial. And probably this was one of those circumstances that did not let me get acquainted with a rather original, cruel and for my time, quite beautiful game D2.
The figure in the name says that this is the second part of the game, but in fact it is not. Between the first and second D was another Enemy Zero (E0) game for Sega Saturn, it turns out that D2 is the third game in the trilogy.
The first D was developed back in 95? For the prefix 3DO WARP developers, an interesting fact that Fumito Ueda (ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian) worked at one time in this studio at one time, D was a quest genre, the bulk of the gameplay had to wander around the lock and solve the riddles, the game was quite enoughfrightening, in it the main theme was vampires and cannibalism. Apparently the laconic name D, most likely is a reduction from Dracula. Enemy Zero came out a year later in 96, it was already about the spacecraft captured by an alien force, the gameplay was a little more diverse here, but still the game was more than a quest, although sometimes it had to be fired at enemies. It’s funny that in the entire trilogy the names and the appearance of the characters almost do not change, but how much the games are connected I do not know.
The first and second parts were short and did not possess a large set of gameplay mechanics, most likely for the exclusive game of the Drempstaste this approach was not acceptable and in the third part to the riddles and long rollers added an arcade shooting range, a third -face view and RPG elements. The output turned out to be a mix of genres, which somehow really cannot be called, one in genre belonging remained unchanged – horror.
I could not go through the game at one time, so now I will make an amendment to age, 19 years old. I generally think I play it then, when the child, the game could fully captivate me and I would love it along with the rest of the masterpieces of Drimkast, now all this looks far from unambiguous, but about everything in order.
The graphics in the game in places look just wonderful, I’m talking about the interior decoration of the premises, they are drawn at a high level. Details, the quality of the textures, the number of objects, all this is just excellent, while open spaces – where our heroine moves freely and fights, look much weaker, but nevertheless they do not cut the eyes. Another thing is monsters, the brightness of the colors in which they are painted against the background of the snow -white plains, the eye certainly does not spare the eye. The solution in my opinion is controversial, the trash and arcativity is greatly knocked out of the atmosphere of the general picture, but this is the idea of the author. But whatever you can’t blame for any idea is an animation. As I understand it, it was drawn manually, but still. This business looks very jerking and intermittently, this concerns mainly monsters, since in the premises the movement of people is quite smooth and natural.
In general, looking carefully at the game, there is a feeling that it was blinded from two different pieces, the plot videos and the quest part are worked out at a very high level, that is, in the rooms this is one game, but everything that is connected with the battleship and the movement between the locations, I don’t know again, is good or bad, for sure it was not so very much into the eyes.
Cruelty in the game looks extremely sophisticated, there is a feeling of borrowing in Re, only here the authors seem to bend the stick in places, although it is difficult to say objectively, because someone is just expecting this from horrors.
Katsen in the game lasts on duty, the action in them develops slowly, not in the way and the music in these moments is incredibly successfully selected, the melodies with rare keys are very appropriate to combine with a certain mystery and mysticism of those who are in the frame, here I would even say some points thanks to the music, they resemble Silent Hill and this is undoubtedly a plus. The compositions are at least quite minimalistic, but they simply in an incredible way beat in the right place, forcing to experience if not fear, then certainly some alarm, and even in separation from the picture. Undoubtedly, the music in the game was a success and thank Kenji Eno for it, he was a well -known musician in Japan and founder of Warp studio. He helped in writing tracks to all company projects.
Now, if you look objectively, then the gamedic design of royalspincasino.uk those years left much to be desired and a large number of things in old games now look absurd, but despite what we love the game process of the old school, for the depth and elaboration, that is, the same resident after so many years, although it looks archaic, is still interesting and balanced. As for the obsessed game, there are certain problems with this, part of the gameplay is to move between locations and random clashes with monsters for example as in FF. When the enemy attacks the heroine, the game goes into the battle mode with a first -person view and turns into a shooting range, there is no opportunity to move and the screen is turned to press hot keys.
Another part of the gameplay looks like an ordinary quest, we explore the premises and solve riddles, in buildings we cannot move freely, we only choose a point and already automatically crossing, we are free to inspect and look for objects. But almost the most important thing, these are katsets. The game consists of almost half of the videos that are not possible to skip and this would not be a problem, find at least one gameplay mechanics in the game that can be considered the main and worked out, but in reality any aspects of the game are revealed primitively and superficially. It turns out that the main gaplay is purely in terms of time ratio is to watch rollers.
Perhaps we will not go further into criticism, it is enough to understand that the gameplay was unique and unusual, he could attract attention and probably was a calculation, but when the player began to figure it out, he understood that the game had no depth and at least some kind of balance, all this mixture of genres was more like a ball of torn threads, where the each thread was an unfinished set of gaming solutions. A simple example will be this line for what it is in the game, what do you think? That’s right, nothing. Pumping here is not like an automatic raising of the general CP does not occur.
About the plot. There is one nuance, it consists in the fact that the game has no subtitles and I had to understand everything by ear, where I could miss the details, but still a more or less integral picture was made up.
Our adventure begins at the moment when the main character Laura wakes up in a hut and discovers a black Kimberly girl in front of him. It turns out that the aircraft on which we and the entire backbone of the characters flew, crashed somewhere in the mountains of Canada. The main character miraculously survived, while she lost her memory, possibly also a speechless thing, since Laura will not say a word for the game, but what is much worse is that all survivors in the district began to suddenly turn into disgusting mutants … Making his way through the cold and snow, our friends will first save Jeni’s girl, simultaneously killing her grandfather, killing her grandfather. Then there is a snowmobile and on it our company will be able to get to an abandoned mansion.
In the way, it turns out that all people around us are sitting on the drug Linda. A certain drug produced from the local flower and this explains the madness among those few people who have not yet had time to mutate.
Laura all this time will be visions where she alternately hears that great mother that Devid, a man who sacrificed himself after the crash of the aircraft, in order to save us and these visions, as a result, is much more important for the plot than the events taking place in reality.
Somewhere already in the second half of the game, the following fact will be clarified, this character of which will only sometimes show us in rollers is the chosen of a certain shadow – the creature personifying evil and destruction.
The shadow arrived at the planet 65 million years ago in the image of the very meteorite that destroyed the dinosaurs, but by the forces of the Great Mother, the creature opposite the entirely positive and protecting our land, the shadow was strewn. The reason for the crash of the aircraft was just the second meteorite that flew from the depths of the cosmos to arouse sleeping evil. Well, humanity was supposed to repeat the fate of dinosaurs.As for our Laura, it is as chosen as that sorcerer, but already a great mother.
As we pass, people will meet, the dying scientist – the father of David, the priest with the parrot, the mother of the local crazy family … They will all share their stories, after which they will find death, as in other characters, with the exception of, of course, the main character and even a jeni girl will give their souls to God.
Already in the end, in proud loneliness, we will get to the laboratory belonging to Lucy. She was a scientist who tried to clone mamot from the DNA of the remains, but by chance she found another DNA in the stomach of the dead beast, an unusual one, a certain person with wings and decided to somehow fertilize herself. She herself died after childbirth, but the child still survived, this child was our Laura with you. It turns out the great mother chose us far from simple, apparently we are a descendant of some kind of man, almost an angel.
The plot of the plot is the final battle with the awakened form of the shadow. It passes in such decorations, since the great evil took our hearing, vision and the opportunity to move, but the man who saved us and sacrificed us and sacrificed us, before his death he gave us a flower and put it in the mirror from his mother. Visions that we saw the whole game gradually returned our memory and now, being on the hair from death, in the darkness of non -being, the last such vision helped us to remember about the mirror and flower. These things somehow aroused the will to salvation in Laura and filled with strength, which allowed the finish for the reincarnation of evil.
At the end, by some miracle, Laura fades the time ago to the crash of the aircraft, while with the preservation of the changes, that is, the shadow apparently destroyed and everyone else remains alive and we see how Laura meets Devid and with him a new millennium. This is what the end of the game looks like.
Well, it is hardly possible to seriously approach the assessment of this story, there are a lot of answers even in foreign forums, but it seems to me that the answers are not needed here. Most likely when translating from Japanese into English, the game has been transformed may be beyond recognition, about the same as games translated by our pirates at the beginning of the zero. Personally, I would prefer the plot more small and local, not so pretentious and certainly without saving the world, but we have what we have.
Summing up I want to say that playing this game was somehow surprisingly cozy. Yes, she has annoying details in places, the same bactrening and not obvious tasks, but the fact is that it is completely and completely filled with the diverse gameplay that Dreamkast’s projects gave. Yes, these mechanics are poorly implemented, but no matter how strange it is, it is simply interesting to find out in this game what is behind the next door. I will repeat, get this game to me then, in childhood, I am sure that I would be delighted, despite nothing. Therefore, without even having nostalgic feelings and seeing all the flaws, it is not a bad game as it doesn’t come out, it is not perfect, but still remains unique to this day, as in other things and most projects for the Dreamcast prefix.
